My geography chapter on resources talks about renewable and non-renewable, but I am not sure which examples go where. Sunlight, coal, water, forests... I get confused.
Renewable resources are those that can be replenished by nature within a short time, so they do not run out quickly if used wisely. Examples are solar energy, wind, water, and forests, which regrow or are continuously available. Non-renewable resources take millions of years to form, so once used up they are practically gone in human terms. Examples are coal, petroleum, natural gas and most minerals. A useful caution: some renewable resources can still be destroyed if we overuse them, for instance cutting forests faster than they regrow or polluting water. So renewable does not mean unlimited. For your exam, also mention that this is why conservation and sustainable development matter, especially for non-renewable fossil fuels, which we must use carefully and replace with cleaner renewable sources over time.
