Who we are
TuitionsinIndia is operated by Abhishek Ignatius John, a sole proprietorship based in Mumbai, India. You can reach us at support@tuitionsinindia.com.
We run this service online and do not operate a walk-in office, so we list our city rather than a street address. If you need our full registered address — for a legal notice, or for a complaint to a consumer forum — email us and we will provide it.
GST registration: 27AFRPJ2457E1ZA, held by Abhishek Ignatius John as a sole proprietorship.

1. What is free
Creating an account, searching tutors, a tutor’s profile, a tutor applying to a requirement, and messaging back and forth with someone who has responded to you are all free. Posting a tuition requirement takes a refundable booking deposit, explained in section 2. Free accounts have daily limits on how many people they can message first. Tutors pay us nothing to apply, to be accepted, to be booked, or to confirm a booking.
2. The booking deposit and the booking fee (parents and students)
To post a requirement you place a booking deposit of ₹999 or ₹2,000, GST included (₹999 is ₹847 + ₹152 GST; ₹2,000 is ₹1,695 + ₹305 GST). The amount is shown on the page before you pay and again on the payment screen, and it is the same for everyone posting on that day. It is paid through Razorpay and a receipt is emailed to you.
The deposit is TuitionsInIndia’s booking fee, held, not taken. We do not collect tuition fees, we do not hold money on a tutor’s behalf, and no part of it goes to a tutor. It is only charged when two things have happened: you book a tutor from your dashboard, and that tutor confirms the booking. Until then it is yours to take back.
- Cancel any time before you book a tutor — one tap on your dashboard (“Cancel and refund”), full refund, no questions, no fee. Your requirement closes with it. While a booking is waiting for the tutor’s answer, cancel that booking first; the deposit is then yours to take back again.
- No tutor has applied by day 7 — we refund it in full automatically; you do not need to ask.
- Nothing confirmed by day 21 — we refund it in full automatically, whether or not tutors applied.
- If we could not post your requirement — for example the payment went through but the posting failed — you get a “finish posting” banner on your dashboard, and if you would rather not, the same one-tap refund.
The booking fee. When you book a tutor, our fee for that introduction is 50% of the first month’s fee that tutor quoted you, never more than ₹5,000, GST included. Your deposit counts towards it. Whatever is left is held when you book — the amount is shown before you pay — and charged only when the tutor confirms. If the tutor has not confirmed within 48 hours, or declines, the booking lapses: the held balance comes back to you automatically, your deposit stays held, and you can book someone else. If 50% of the tutor’s quote comes to less than your deposit, we refund the difference to you automatically when the tutor confirms; we never ask you to top up beyond half the quote.
Once the tutor has confirmed, the deposit and the balance together are our booking fee for that introduction, phone numbers are shared with both sides, and the fee is no longer refundable on request — section 5 explains why a contact detail counts as received once it has been shown. The tutor you booked agrees to charge you 50% less than their quoted fee for month one, so the booking fee does not raise what you pay overall. If the tutor you booked does not start, tell us within 7 days of the confirmation: a person reads it within 2 working days and you get a replacement or a refund. That decision is made by a person, not a rule, because each case is different.
When supply is thin — fewer than 3 matching tutors active in the last month — we do not take a deposit at all; you post without one and we tell you so on the page.
Every refund of the deposit or of a held balance goes back to the UPI ID or card it came from. We start it within 1 working day; banks take 2–7 working days to show it. The receipt email is your proof of what you paid and when.
3. Other things you can pay for
Paid products are billed securely through Razorpay. These are all of them:
- Tutor Pro — ₹999 a month, optional. Lists you first, shows you new requirements early, and lifts the free daily limit on new student connections. A much higher fair-use limit still applies each day, to stop bulk scraping.
- Institute Pro — ₹1,999 a month.
- Featured listing — ₹199 for a week or ₹499 for a month, paid once.
Nothing on this list buys anyone’s phone number: numbers are shared with both sides only through the booking in section 2, and a tutor pays nothing for that. Some plans also offer a longer three or twelve month term at a lower monthly rate. Whatever is available for your plan is shown on the subscription page before you pay. Student Pro, VIP tutor search, the one-time student contact unlock, tutor credit packs and institute lead credits are no longer sold; if you already hold credits from our older pricing, they still work, and if you paid for one of those products its original terms still apply to it.
4. Cancelling a subscription
If your plan renews automatically each month, you can cancel it at any time from your dashboard under Subscription. Cancelling stops the next payment. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and is not renewed after that.
If you made a single payment instead — for example a discounted offer or a featured listing — there is nothing to cancel and no further payment will be taken. It ends on its own when the period runs out. Your subscription page shows which of the two you have.
We do not charge any cancellation fee. Cancelling stops future payments; it does not refund a period you have already paid for. Section 5 covers when we do refund.
5. Refunds on plans and unlocks
The booking deposit and the booking fee have their own rules, in section 2. Everything else we sell is digital and starts working the moment your payment goes through, so those payments are not refunded once you have received what you paid for. To be exact about what that means for each product:
- A plan — Tutor or Institute Pro — counts as received as soon as the plan is switched on in your account, which happens straight after payment. There is no gap where you have paid but not yet received it, so a period that has started is not refunded, whether or not you used it. If your plan renews monthly, cancelling before the next renewal date means you are not charged again.
- A contact detail — a phone number or other contact detail — counts as received the moment it is shown to you. We cannot make you un-see it, so it is not refundable after that. If your plan is still in its first 30 days and you have not been shown a single contact detail, tell us and we will look at it.
- A featured listing counts as received once your listing starts appearing at the top of search. If it never went live, we refund it in full.
- An older lead credit counts as received once you claim a student enquiry with it. If the enquiry turns out to be a dead end — a wrong number, no response, a duplicate, or a student who is not actually interested — report it within 7 days and the credit goes straight back to your account. That returns the credit, not the money.
- An older credit counts as received once it is spent.
None of this takes away your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. If you were charged in error, charged twice, charged after cancelling, or could not use what you paid for because something on our side was broken, email us within 7 days of the payment. We will look at it and refund you where it is due — a full refund if you received nothing, and a fair part of it if the problem cost you part of what you paid for. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method within 5–7 business days.
If a payment leaves your account but your plan does not switch on, that is our problem to fix, not yours. Tell us and we will either activate the plan or refund you in full.
6. Tuition fees are separate
Monthly tuition fees are agreed directly between students and tutors and are paid directly to the tutor. TuitionsInIndia does not collect, hold, or take a commission on tuition fees, so any matter relating to tuition payments, schedules, or refunds is between the student and the tutor. The booking deposit and booking fee in section 2 are our own fee for the introduction, not a tuition payment, and never pass through us to a tutor. The tutor’s month-one discount is a term the tutor agrees to when confirming a booking; the discounted fee is still paid by you to the tutor directly.
7. How to request a refund
For the booking deposit you do not need to ask: the “Cancel and refund” button on your dashboard does it, the day-7 and day-21 refunds happen on their own, and a balance held for a booking the tutor did not confirm comes back on its own too. For anything else, the quickest way is our contact form — it raises a ticket with a reference number so nothing gets lost. You can also email support@tuitionsinindia.com from the email address on your account. Either way, include your payment date and the Razorpay payment ID, which you will find in your receipt email, your payment history or your data download. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
