Whenever there's a topic on weather and climate I lose marks because I write them as the same thing. Can someone explain the actual difference with an example?
Weather and climate differ mainly in time. Weather is the day-to-day condition of the atmosphere at a particular place: today it might be sunny, tomorrow rainy, windy in the evening. It changes quickly and is short-term. Climate is the average weather of a place taken over a long period, usually 25 to 30 years or more. So we say Mumbai has a hot and humid climate, even though on any single day the weather could be cloudy or dry. A simple way to remember: weather is your mood, which changes hour to hour, while climate is your personality, which stays fairly stable over years. When a question asks about climate, talk about long-term patterns like temperature and rainfall over decades, not just one day's conditions.
