CBSE Class 10 Board Exam Preparation: A Practical Study Checklist

Preparing for Class 10 board exams is easier to organise when you know what needs attention. Use this checklist to plan revision and make your study time specific.

1. Check the syllabus and materials for your exam session

Confirm the subjects, course choices and syllabus that apply to you with your school. Work through the relevant textbook examples and exercises. Check that any older paper or revision guide you use still covers the topics and format for your exam session.

2. Make a topic list you can act on

For each subject, separate topics you can explain confidently from topics where you still need help. Give each study session a clear task, such as solving a set of equations or reviewing one reading-comprehension exercise. Choose a timetable you can maintain rather than assigning subjects to a supposedly ideal time of day.

3. Practise, then inspect the mistakes

Attempt questions without looking at the solution first. Use the relevant marking scheme or a teacher's feedback to review the result. Note whether a mistake came from a concept you misunderstood, a missed step, misreading the question or time pressure. Revisit those questions after working on the gap.

4. Match exam practice to the actual paper

Use the instructions and permitted time for the paper you are practising. Keep older papers only where the content remains relevant. Practise showing the steps and explanation the question asks for; answer format depends on the subject and question.

5. Bring specific questions to a teacher or tutor

Show the question, your attempt and the point where you got stuck. If you are considering a tutor, ask whether they teach your exact subject, class and course, how they check written work and how they will report progress.
