Home and online tuition offer different ways to organise support. Start with the student's needs, then compare tutors and practical arrangements for the exact subject and class.

Compare the cost

Ask for like-for-like quotes covering lesson length, group size, frequency, travel and materials. Online tuition does not guarantee a lower fee. Use the TuitionsInIndia tuition-fee report as a description of platform asking rates, then confirm an individual quote with the tutor.

Compare the lesson itself

For online tuition, ask how the student will show working, receive corrections and ask questions during the lesson. For home tuition, discuss the teaching space, who will be present and the tutor's travel area. In either format, ask what work will be set between lessons and how progress will be explained.

Check the practical arrangements

Agree a schedule and a policy for cancelled or missed lessons. For online sessions, test the device and connection. If recording is proposed, agree permission, access and retention before recording. For home visits, agree the location and arrangements in advance.

Evaluate a first lesson

Ask whether a trial lesson is available and agree any charge. Look for a clear explanation, opportunities for the student to take part, feedback on their work and a specific next step. Choose based on what you observe rather than a blanket rule about a student's age or a format's results.
